As you explore this website, may you be reminded of the truly amazing grace and faithfulness of God who invites us into abundant life. I am a blessed mother to three wonderful children and nine grandchildren (actually, thirteen now that the four oldest are married.) Some might say our family is picture perfect, but those who know us would say we are a beacon of hope. We would say that our story is a portrait of God’s faithfulness.
There was a chapter in my life’s story, however, where none of these things were true. This season of shattered dreams drove me into the loving arms of Jesus and created the picture people see of me today. We often try to eliminate the dark colors from the canvas of our lives. Our Heavenly Father knows these bring depth and beauty to the masterpiece He is designing.
Although being a loving wife and mother had always been my dream, things began to unravel after twenty-seven years of marriage. As my husband took a walk away from our family, my son took a walk on the wild side, and we lost everything through bankruptcy. The dream I was living turned into a nightmare almost overnight. My relentless efforts to fix everything only led me to a nervous breakdown. In the midst of this dark night of my soul, when I was face to face with the reality that every shattered piece of my life, my family, and my finances, was out of my control, God proved Himself to be more than I ever imagined. When I felt like I had lost everything, I realized He was everything to me. The Lord Jesus became my very life! I learned to release the outcome and trust Him completely.
I have discovered that sometimes the worst thing that ever happens to you can become the best thing, because it becomes the place where you encounter God more intimately than you ever thought possible. I know now with certainty that God’s plans for me were always good, “plans to prosper me and not to harm me; plans to give me hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
